I've always loved motorbikes so I got a loan and bought one. Long story short, a group of mamas boys from Wesley vandalised it one night and it had to be scrapped. Bye bye poor bike.
So I was bikeless with a loan and very cross. What does one do? Goes out, gets another damn loan and buys an even bigger bike. And moves away from Wesley. Clearly.
Everything is wonderful when you can drive your own vehicle around. You can go where you want when you want - the feeling of freedom is amazing. No more asking the folks for lifts, no missing parties or nights out cuz you can't get to the venue - your bike/car will bring you! YAY!
But as time goes on, you remember you need petrol every few days. You need to insure and tax it. If you drive to a night out and promise a lift to someone you can't drink for the night. If the damn thing breaks down, you're screwed.
My bike has broken down 7 times in the last 4 months. The first 6 times was a battery fault (dodgy parts sold by even dodgier dealers) so it only cost the price of one battery to fix. Thats ok. But then the last time it broke down, it appears I've burnt out the regulator. I don't know what that is but Honda wanna charge me €600 for it! Madness I said. So we found someone else who won't force me into selling my family to fix it.
I love my bike. I really do. But the heartache and wallet-ache it causes makes me wonder why I even bother with driving sometimes.

Job Anyone?
Right. Back in February 2009...
"I have a great job with alright money and I don't want for anything. Snore. I'm going back to college"
July 2009...
"Jaysus, sure I've been accepted. Best quit my job so...I'll just get a little extra part time job for some money. I only need it for my loans - I don't need to go out drinking all the time"
And then September happened...
Not only do I want to go drinking all the time, but my "little extra part time job to pay for my loans only" appears to be a little less than enough to support my new student lifestyle. So off I go to get me another little job. But there aren't any! And the ones that I think might take me on, won't because I appear to have too much work experience! How would bank experience hamper my chances of getting a job in the local Spar, I hear you ask. I am good at talking to people...I can count money...I can answer a telephone...I think I could handle stocking a few bags of crisps onto a shelf (even though I have no prior experience but sure, we all love a trier right?) But I must have talked too much in the bank. Or maybe it was that time when I missed an important phone call from a man who wanted to ask if he had to have the internet for internet banking. Special folk make special phone calls.
I don't know. But at 25 there is absolutely no way that I can have too much work experience. If that is the case, then what are the people older than me with families to support going to do?! Even if jobs are available, it doesn't look like some people can get them. I will clean toilets if it will keep me in beer and petrol money. Not together.
Tis shockin.
